Arriving at Linping, Zhejiang, China

Arriving at Linping brought back all the feelings of moving to a new place x 3, and with that a big set of emotions and thoughts: here I go again, why I’m I doing this again?, I should just buy a ticket and fly out of this one, is this the right thing for me?…

To be honest, I don’t know the answer to those questions. Sometimes negativity takes control of me, and the answer is: run away.  But another side of me is aware that I will learn a lot, and have experiences beyond the ones that I could have if I went back to the comforts of home (although I’m not quite sure where that is, somewhere in between Canada, USA, England, Venezuela I suppose).

There is also a relationship that I want to see grow. I haven’t written about it here, and I don’t think I’ll go into details, but it is part of the reason of why I’m here now and an incentive to give this year a chance before deciding to just pack my bags and leave.

So to keep my head busy and to take the most advantage of my time here in Linping, I will set some goals for my first 4 months here:

  1. Join a sports team, and practice at least once a week.
  2. Exercise  5 days a week at least 30 min.
  3. Continue to learn Chinese. Take classes twice a week.
  4. Meet with a friend outside of school, at least once a week (besides weekends).
  5. Save one months salary.

I will try to keep updates of my progress here a couple of times a month, and revisit my goals once the first 4 months are finished.
